E-Dermastamp (EDS)

What is E-Dermastamp (EDS)?

E-Dermastamp (EDS) is an electronic form of medical micro-needling, which replaces the manual Genuine Dermaroller device.

EDS delivers a far better result that the manual device. The vibration effect, coupled with the use of hyaluronic acid gel to help the device to glide over the skin, helps to reduce any discomfort.

What is micro-needling?

This is a technique performed by a medical practitioner whereby fine, short needles are run over your skin. This creates thousands of micro-needle columns in the skin, stimulating your skin to regenerate by encouraging it to repair itself. The needles act at just the right depth within the dermis to stimulate the generation of collagen, which is a vital component of smoother, brighter and healthier looking skin. Each tiny needle column closes rapidly, enabling the skin to recover quickly – usually within 24 hours.

What is EDS micro-needling used for?

E-Dermastamp (EDS) can be effective on the following conditions:

  • Acne scarring
  • Photo-damaged and ageing skin
  • Facial and décolleté lines and wrinkles
  • Stretch marks

It can also be used in combination with medical skincare such as Obagi, or alternated with skin peels to maximise results.

The EDS device can also be programmed to work at different depths within the dermis. The medical treatment level is a depth of 1.5mm. It can also be operated at a shallower level of 0.3mm, which means it can be used in a similar way to microdermabrasion.

What happens during treatment?

The first step of the process is a full consultation with Dr. Mayoni, who will discuss your skincare needs and objectives.

Dr. Mayoni will then apply a layer of anaesthetic cream to the area to be treated, to make the procedure more comfortable. This takes around 30 minutes to take effect.

The EDS procedure itself lasts for around 15 to 20 minutes, depending on the area being treated.

Is EDS painful?

Thanks to the anaesthetic cream and the vibrating effect of the device, the discomfort is kept to a minimum. It has been described as a prickling sensation whilst the treatment takes place, and is short-lived.

How will I feel after the treatment?

Immediately after your EDS procedure your skin will look as though you have moderate sunburn, and may feel warm and tighter than usual. This will start to subside over the next 24 hours.

What post-treatment skin care is needed?

Immediately after the treatment Control Tactics cream will be applied to the skin. This is a hyaluronic acid based product which hydrates and plumps the skin and enhances the treatment results.

You will be given a supply of Control Tactics to take home with you, along with a high-level UV protection product called Heliocare. It is essential to protect your skin from the sun during healing process.

It is also recommended that you use tepid water to cleanse your face until the redness has gone and to make sure your hands are clean when touching the treated area.

Once the redness has cleared up, it’s important to take care of your skin on a daily basis with an effective anti-ageing regime such as from the Obagi range. The right regime will provide photo and anti-oxidant protection as well as enhance the rejuvenation process.

How long will it take to see a difference in my skin?

Immediately after the procedure, your body will start to naturally regenerate and repair the treated skin, working below the surface in the dermis. This takes time as new collagen is formed, new skin cells are generated and the dermis is enhanced.

It can take up to six weeks for visible signs of regeneration and repair, and this process will continue over the following month, ensuring you get a natural, long-lasting enhancement.

We recommend that your EDS treatment consists of a series of three procedures, each approximately six weeks apart. Depending upon your particular skin complaint it may be necessary to increase the number of treatments required.
